A day that seemed so far away when I signed the contract is finally here! It’s book release day for Expecting Wonder!
I never could have predicted what the world would look like right now (and I’m so glad I didn’t know I’d be releasing this baby in the middle of a global pandemic), but here’s what I do know: time marches on. Women keep on being pregnant and having babies and experiencing the deeply transformative process of becoming mothers. I sincerely hope that Expecting Wonder will be a friend and companion to them during this time, especially as our normal support systems are largely unavailable.
I got the idea for this book before I was even pregnant with my first child, more than five years ago. I was already experiencing a whirlwind of emotions around trying to conceive, whether I was cut out to be a mother, whether I could have a healthy pregnancy, etc., and I wanted a resource that would help me navigate the emotionally turbulent waters of pregnancy. I couldn’t find that book, so I set out to write it. Expecting Wonder is the result—part memoir, part heart-level guidebook for expectant mothers.
Here’s what other women are saying about Expecting Wonder:
“Expecting Wonder is the companion that every soon-to-be mom needs. With thoughtful stories and heartfelt wisdom, it is a trusted resource for navigating the wonder-filled experiences of pregnancy.”
—Mandy Arioto, President and CEO, MOPS International
“From the two-week wait to the moment of birth, Expecting Wonder captures the fear, thrill, anxiety, and sacredness of pregnancy, weaving poignant tales of surrender throughout. About more than a growing belly, this is a hope-filled story of a growing faith.”
—Ashlee Gadd, founder of Coffee + Crumbs and author of The Magic of Motherhood
“Finally—a pregnancy book I don’t want to throw out the window! Brittany Bergman has produced that rare miracle—a book that understands what motherhood does to the soul, and not just the body. What a welcome relief!”
—Lisa-Jo Baker, bestselling author of Never Unfriended; Surprised by Motherhood; and The Middle Matters; cohost of Out of the Ordinary
“Expecting Wonder was thoughtful, insightful, and resonant. While I am a few years past my last pregnancy, I was brought into the memories of that poignant, transformative time reading Brittany’s words. The writing is both lovely and effortless. This is a book I will read more than once.”
—Lorren Lemmons via Goodreads
“Brittany’s book is one that is different from most mom books. I’m about to be a first time mom and hearing her story was so relateable for me. She shares her worries, her story, and her hope in such a raw way. It almost felt like she was writing down the thoughts I’ve had for the last 8 months.”
—Tara Custer via Goodreads
“Brittany Bergman’s courageously vulnerable words whispered right into my soul. Her story is my story is OUR story as moms united by the painful, glorious “wonder” of that all encompassing momma love! She somehow figured out how to describe it ALL so eloquently in 200 pages and yet I still wanted her to say more. Moms everywhere: read and be reassured that you are not alone.”
—Allison Segarra Hansen via Goodreads

Want to help me celebrate?
Many of you have asked how you can help during launch week, and I am so, SO grateful!! Asking for and receiving help is really hard for me, but I am certainly getting practice with it right now, much like when I was a new mom drowning in diapers and nipple cream and just needed someone to order me a pizza. Here are some ideas for you, if you feel so inclined:
- Buy the book, of course!
- Review it on Amazon and Goodreads: Even one line counts as a review, and every review helps more people to see the book. If you haven’t read the book yet, you can still add it to your Goodreads “to-read” shelf and write something like, “I just started this book and will update the review after finishing, but I already love it!” For Amazon, you can leave a review after you’ve read the book.
- Share a photo or two on social media: You’re welcome to take a photo of the book, snap a selfie, or use any of the photos in this email on your social feeds. Just be sure to tag me @brittanylbergman and #ExpectingWonder so I can see it! (**Spoiler alert**: Tomorrow I’ll be giving away 3 copies of Expecting Wonder on Instagram, and doing this will get you an entry! Be sure to stop by tomorrow to complete the other steps.)
- Purchase a few copies for your expecting friends and/or socially distant baby showers.
- Ask your local bookstore to stock Expecting Wonder.
- Ask your local library to stock Expecting Wonder: Most librarians are happy to fulfill these requests!
I can’t say it enough, but I am beyond thankful to have you in my corner. Thank you for every person you’ve shared this book with, every minute you’ve spent reading my work, every encouraging email you’ve sent or comment you’ve left. You all are without a doubt the best people on the internet.
And now please excuse me while I go nurse my vulnerability hangover!
