It has been one of those blessedly normal weeks: working at the office, working out, cooking, walking the dog, reading my book, updating the blog, talking with Dan, sitting outside. Busy and full without being hustled and hurried. This is my sweet spot.
But the mundaneness that characterized Monday through Thursday is getting thrown out the window today, because it’s wedding day! Naturally, this is at the top of my gratitude list.
Cultivating Gratitude
My baby brother is getting married today! He and his high school sweetheart, Katie, have been dating for almost ten years, so this is a very joyous and long-awaited event. (Also, have you ever seen two siblings who look less alike?)
Sunny weather and the ability to work outside from my laptop.
Riley’s love and loyalty. She’s always on my heels like a little shadow, and I don’t mind a bit. Except for last night, when I got up from the couch for two seconds, and I came back to find her in my spot, sleeping on my pillows.
Quality time with Dan last weekend. We went out for burgers and milkshakes at Smashburger (ah-mazing, by the way). It wasn’t anything fancy, but it felt so special. Milkshakes will do that.
The means to buy some nursery furniture and finally feel like we’re making progress. (Though, we’re still trying to decide on a paint color.)
How limitations and unexpected obstacles often lead to creative solutions that turn out even better than what I’d originally planned.
Sharing Love
What I love most about Catherine’s writing is her approachable honesty. Her recent thoughts on joy, pain, and truth are so beautiful and are still rolling around in my head many days later.
We’ve all heard that comparison is the thief of joy, but Daisy disagrees (and to be honest, I do too). Find out what the real thief of joy is.
My love for s’mores runs deep, as does my love for breakfast foods. I’m drooling over the combination of the two in Lindsay’s s’mores waffle recipe.
I’ve loved following along with Joy (since she’s basically my life twin) at her lifestyle blog, For the Love of Tuna. Her newest blogging and life endeavor (The Accidental House Blog) is inspiring me to keep working on my own house! I love the calming vibe of her new guest bedroom.
