Welcome, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Brittany, and I’m a thirty-something woman who wears a lot of hats. (I’m sure you can relate!)
I’ve been married to my husband, Dan, for eight years (you can read more about our love story here), and I’m a mom to our two children, Selah and Eamon (you can read more about my experience with motherhood here). By day I work as a copyeditor at a publishing house, and by lunch break, evenings, and naptimes, I write here on this blog and for a few publications around the web. My first book, Expecting Wonder, releases on August 4, 2020.
It always feels a little strange to define myself in terms of my relationship to other people or in terms of what I do, so here’s the rundown on me as me:
I’m an ISFJ (heavy on the I and the J) and an Enneagram Type 1 who is learning to be more flexible and less perfectionistic.
Two of my greatest loves in life are getting lost in a good book and getting lost in my writing. I love traveling and I love being at home in equal parts.
I love Jesus but believe more in the power of loving people well than in following church-y rules.
I cry a lot, laugh a lot, and sometimes try too hard. I love my family hard, get really emotional when I feel like I’ve failed, and respond well to bear hugs and meaningful words of encouragement.
About the Blog
If you feel like you’re wearing all the hats, managing all the things, and feeling all the feelings about motherhood, marriage, and life in general, then this space is for you.
I created this blog as a place where I could invite others into my writing, and thus welcome friends into my virtual home. My goal for this space is for you to feel connected, known, and understood; for you to exhale and say, “Me too,” as you engage with the content here. I like to think of my readers as I write, picturing myself sitting in one of my living-room armchairs while you occupy the other, as we spill our hearts and encourage one another to find the joy in the everyday.
This motherhood and marriage stuff is hard and beautiful and sacred, and in a season that often feels exhausting, I want this to be a place where you feel encouraged and refreshed. Here you’ll find essays, how-tos, stories, and heart-to-heart chats about savoring motherhood, building a strong marriage, living simply and holistically, and practicing gratitude.
If you’re in this with me, I’d love to connect with you. You can sign up for my email list to get new posts and newsletters in your inbox, connect with me on Facebook for more encouragement, and see slices of my life on Instagram. I’m so looking forward to getting to know you.
